Highlighting straight line on iPad

Looks like there isn’t a way possible as iPad currently is.

if you can find the “reconfigure tool” - I couldn’t find it.

I just open the PDF in “Books” app and it allows you to highlight it in there with a straight line.

I've figured out how to highlight across multiple pages! In the old iBooks, the page turned automatically to continue the selection. In the new UI, this doesn't happen, so I thought this feature was gone. However, if you pull the selection to the boundary of the page and then turn the page manually, the selection remains, allowing you to adjust it and highlight or copy the text. Highlighting text in PDFs I am using iPadOS to do readings for classes (viewing PDFs natively) and am trying to highlight text using Markup with the highlighter tool, but it ends up painting over the text instead of highlighting the background. What I want to do (with an Apple Pencil or similar stylus) is select and highlight the text background, not paint over it, and then quickly annotate beside it. Why can’t I do this within the markup tools?
