Adding Music to Library or Playlists causes the music to stop

macOS Catalina 10.15.6, MacBook Pro 2017

Inside Music (which I really hate compared to iTunes), when I click the three dots on a song and Add to Library or Add to a Playlist, the music stops playing immediately and then adds to wherever specified.

This means I lose my place and any playlists just stop playing. Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this? It's really frustrating.

Hello meerkatjack1,

It sounds like music in the Music application is stopping when you add the song to your library or to a playlist. Are these songs that you're adding from the Apple Music catalog, or songs you've purchased through the iTunes Store? Do you notice if this happens when attempting to add music to the library or playlist from a different user account on your Mac?

There's also been an update to macOS Catalina to macOS 10.15.7. It's recommend to perform that update as well to see if that'll help resolve the issue.

How to update the software on your Mac

Take care!
