”can't Update Software: constantly lose network connection?”

The Connection:
Restart your router. Also, try connecting to a different network. See if that works.
On the Mac, A Few Thoughts:
Sometimes when changes(i.e. updates) are made to the system, system configurations (i.e. for Wi-Fi) become manipulated, technically. So, reset the SMC and NVRAM.
Use a different external keyboard, if available option, to reset these, if it does not work on the Mac.
Ethernet is a hardwired connection. So, try it, and see if it fixes this to successful upgrade. It would connect from your computer, directly in to router.
Hi oldplayer5,
Have you checked https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202663 ?
I would run Wireless Diagnostics..
Cheers,
Betty
