I want to get my child a watch but no one in the house has an iPhone. We do have iMacs, MacBooks, a Macbook Pro, iPods, iPads, a iPad Pro, Mac Pros. Would getting the "new" iPod work since that is a 6 anyways.

I am willing to get a watch with cellular and use the family plan and everything. I liked what they released for the watch. We do not use iPhones. I have a iPad Pro with cellular and no matter what Apple says it is still running iOS due to the "new" features that are basically pushed from the phone and not from the Mac. I cannot see just limiting to the iPhone and not opening to other products. Apple was never like this and is kind of disappointing.
No an Apple Watch must have an Iphone.
Without an iphone the watch won't function,the watch is an accessory of the phone.
Use Apple watch with any other Apple product.
