This is so strange. At the cursor (red arrow), there is a whoosh sound effect. I have hit "V" on each track individually to try to locate (including video tracks) but it is STILL there. Are there hidden tracks in FCPX?

I had this happen a couple FCPX versions ago where there was a mystery sound that did not appear in the timeline. After much head scratching he fix was to quit and relaunch FCPX and then the audio became visible in the timeline and we could delete it. Haven't had it happen again.
It is called the Timeline Index. Press Command-Shift-2 to show or hide it.
Gotcha. There is a swish at 22:09, and that's it...but I don't see it in the timeline....
At the skimmer? There are no hidden lanes unless they're off the screen. Could you export the area around the sound and upload it somewhere? Maybe someone will recognize it.
Here is something else you can try. Open the Timeline Inspector and see if there is something else in there around that time.

It is the second random sound, the first is in the timeline and I put it there.
I hit delete on the swish in the inspector and now its gone...it was hiding in there somewhere!!!!?????
That has to be in the project somewhere. It's not a sound you get from a playback problem, and you can export it.
