Suddenly Mail will not send

Suddenly Mail will not send. When I try to send a message I am warned that the message cannot be sent with the selected server. I have two and neither works. When I use the connection doctor All accounts show green and have a message along side saying the connection and log in succeeded. I have verified the accounts settings and all are as recommended by Apple. Mail is working perfectly on my ipadand iPhone. All have the same mail settings.

Thank you for providing some details about what is occurring. That is helpful. You said that this condition started suddenly. Was that preceded by any changes you made or added? Clearly, your computer is not connecting with the email server, yet, because your other devices are able to connect, we can assume that everything at the server end is functioning correctly. Have you recently changed any of the email passwords in your Mac? For starters, I suggest doing a Safe Mode restart by holding down the Shift key on the restart. This process can take up to ten minutes, so be patient. What happens is that they system does various repairs and cleans out its caches. Sometimes this fixes all sorts of problems. If not, there are some other things we can do.
