unable to upload photos to a website

Hi there.

I have a macbook pro 2014 and am having difficulties uploading photos from the photo library to a website. I have done this in the past several times without any difficulty but currently it will not allow me to do so - I select the photo to upload and either get an error message or it opens a new tab to a black screen without the photo. I want to make a card for my baby son and firstly thought it was the website but despite trying several I simply cannot upload the photo or any photo. Frustrating to say the least. I am running OS Catalina which I updated recently and it is the only thing I can think of which is different since I last successfully made a photo card on a website. I am really grateful for any advice which may get me out of this frustrating dilemma. Thank you so much for any advice.

Have your photos been taken with an iPhone or perhaps in the high efficiency format? Is the filename extension HEIC?

Phots on Catalina does no longer automatically create JPEG files for the media browser.

Try the following:

  • Select the photo you want to upload in Photos.
  • Then use the command "File > Export > Export photo" to save a copy of the photo on the Desktop.
  • Now upload the photo for your Christmas card from your Desktop instead of from Photos.

Thank you so much. I had chosen and copied photos to the desktop and they saved as jpegs but wouldn't upload. I followed your steps and exported and again it saved as a jpeg but IT WORKED! I could upload it to the site. Thank you so very much - I have been trying this for days now. I really appreciate your help. I still cant figure out how it worked but it has. Thank you so so much!
