UK dialling code shown incorrectly

Hi

I have a number of contacts in the Waltham Cross / Waltham Abbey / Epping area (the "Lee Valley" exchange, based in Waltham Cross) which is 01992 xxx xxx.

When they call me, the caller ID on my iphone shows the location as St Albans. However, St Albans is 01727 xxx xxx. And the other side of Hertfordshire from the Lee Valley.

If I get a call from London (020) or Bristol (0117) then it shows correctly.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

iPhone SE

Hello blue t-shirt,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities! We understand you are experiencing some issues with your Caller ID on your iPhone. We are happy to help provide some guidance.

We want to first make sure that your iPhone is up to date with the latest iOS version that is available. If you navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, does it show any updates available?

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Because Caller ID is operated and controlled by your cellular carrier, we also want to make sure that there aren't any carrier updates available. You can check to see if there are any available by going to Settings > General > About.

Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

If the issues continue after checking for those updates, we would recommend contacting your carrier regarding the issue as well.

We hope this helps.

Best Regards.

Hello Kareng12.

Thank you for your response.

My phone is entirely up to date. This issue has persisted since I've had contacts in that area. The software that translates UK area codes is not recognising the incoming telephone number and translating it to the correct area. The number that shows up is correct. The phone's recognition of that number is not correct. I would imagine that somewhere in the Apple database is a lookup that says "if it's 01992 then refer to that as St Albans" when it should in fact be "refer to it as Lee Valley".

It's lovely of you to respond, but the response does not acknowledge the fundamental issue, which is that the iPhone does not recognise the area code. Do you have any insight into how that can be fixed?

kind regards
