iPhone 12 not receiving group texts

I have communicated with Apple Support and they wanted me to run through the process of resetting all my settings, recovery from backup, etc etc etc the usual step you take to resolve an iOS issue. I told them this is wide spread, gave them the forum links and told them the basics I have already done with no solution. I would assume anyone that has gone the Apple support route has done these basic operations or resetting and restoring to try and resolve the problem so I told them I would rather not go that route till he can confirm there is some sort of detail and progress from Apple. He came back and said: I've checked my resources and I wasn't able to locate anything regarding this specific issue and any correlation with iOS 14.

Yes this happened to me with my first 12 that I received. I got a replacement phone and it activated much easier. But both phones will not allow me to send mms msgs to androids. Super frustrating. I miss my old iPhone

I go my phone on release day for iPhone 12 Pro, and I’ve had this problem since that first weekend of having the phone. Today I have missed several texts in my group chat. Still happening despite tickets in with Verizon, and talking with Apple specialists. I’m seeing so many people from all different carriers, so I don’t see how this can be a carrier issue. It seems the biggest consistency is that it is messages that are mixed iPhone/Android. Other than that, we are all different carriers, some people are seeing it on 14.01, 14.1, & 14.2. My wife is using a 11 pro and has no issues. She is also on iOS 14.2. I have my phone synced to my iPad and MacBook Pro and do not receive the messages on either of those devices too.

I have a I phone 12 Pro and I am having the same problem in group texts. Several of the texts are not coming through, and then they show up exactly 12 hrs after they were actually sent. When is apple going to correct this?

I’ve been troubleshooting this for 2 weeks since I got the phone and it is not a carrier issue. T-Mobile was able to see that messages were being delivered to the phone in group texts/MMS but that the phone was not downloading the messages. I’m about to return the device and hold out getting another until I know this has been resolved. Simply not receiving messages is not ok.

I’m having the same issues with intermittent missing messages from groups of 3+ with 1+ android members.

Below are the variables/configuration in which I encounter the messaging problems… it basically happens in all configs…

Cellular Data Configs: 5G Auto & LTE only

Wifi Configs: Enabled & Disabled

Tried all recommended settings/fixes with no luck.

I heard iOS 14.3 Beta is out with a major “modem firmware” update.  Fingers crossed…

I’ve been having the same issue since upgrading to the IPhone 12 Pro. I use Sprint and never had this problem on my old IPhone. In a group text with an iPhone user and an android user I get all of the android messages but don’t receive all of the iMessages. Usually the conversations are in the daytime and lately the missing IMessages come through at 3am. It’s always 3am that the missing messages come through. Don’t know why but it’s really frustrating. I checked the messages setting and everything is enabled. Even deleted the thread and nothing fixes it. It only seems to happen in group texts. One on one text messages always go through.

But not this time. Three iPhones on my account, sitting side-by-side, participating in a multi-person SMS conversation. ONLY my iPhone 12 Pro is failing to receive some of the conversion and it’s dropping texts from both iOS and Android participants.

I’ve experienced the same and glad to see others have too where the group chats include at least one non-iPhone user but the missing response(s) comes from an iPhone user. Hopefully Apple peeps are reading these forums to compile these commonalities as a way to determine a path to a solution.

50 of 54 messages missing in one day. That's how big this problem is. This isn't the occasional missing text message - sometimes I'll get 90% of the messages, but other times I'm missing 90% of the conversation. I wish I were exaggerating. .

I tried all the tricks like resetting network settings, installing verizon plus app, new SIM card, reactivating/appropriating phone, etc etc etc.

It was Friday (three days ago) that I got the new SIM card and re-activated the phone. Saturday, I seemed to get all or almost all the messages. Then Sunday, my phone apparently caught on to my scheme...it got very angry at me for getting past its Saturday blockade and took its revenge by successfully blocking 50 of 54 messages. A group of friends were trading text messages that day and when I counted the number my husband received (who is in the same text string), there were 54 messages. I received exactly 4 of them. Made for a very interesting conversation.

Then today, I seem to have gotten most of them again, only missing maybe 2 of about 30. Is there medication I can give it? Perhaps regulate its mood a little better?

Regarding turning off wifi calling. In my case (iPhone 12pro, t-mobile), I had wifi calling off when I noticed random missing group texts. I just toggled it on and back off, but since mine was off and I was missing random group messages, it suggests that in my case having wifi calling off didn’t matter.

i was on with Apple Support today. I explained that I had researched the issue amd it appears to be a common problem among the new IPhone 12. They started asking me questions about whether it was SMS or iMessenger, asked me about carriers, and gave we completely useless links to info. I explained several time that Message receipt was intermittent from some people and consistent from others. Some Apple users and others are Android users. It’s so frustrating.

Same issue. Never had problems with texts in iPhone 11 Pro Max. Had group message chain with wife & 2 daughters working fine. Then moved to 12 Pro Max. I can send texts & photos, but not receive any responses from others. iMessage & SMS on. Sending set to cell number. Receiving set to cell & me account as it has always been. Even added my own cell number to group, but unable to receive messages from the others in the group. Now, I know it is better to give than receive, but come on, these are just text messages! This smells like iOS 🐛.

@headneuron, I just updated mine and it seems like I'm still having issues too. But I have to keep cross referencing the verizon website where I can check my messages to see if they are there or not.

Include this family to the problems of group texting. My wife has an SE 2020 and I have an XS. We have the same carrier as we are on the same plan. I got all the text messages but my wife was missing about 5 random texts from others in the chat. One was an Android user and the other uses an iPhone 11.

To really complicate matters, in a different group text, an Android user in that group wasn’t getting all the texts. Not sure which service she uses.
