iPhone 12 not receiving group texts

I'm having the same issues! Also, when I try to send pictures they won't go through at all and I don't see any pictures sent to the group but everyone else can see them. I'm on Verizon. I've tried to adjust everything and nothing is working.

I just had this happen as well. Three iPhone users. I’m the one with the 12 pro. I initiated the group text. One of the iPhone users could not see anything I sent, but the other one could.

This is ridiculous. Clearly an issue with iMessage on the 12 pro.

I kinda followed the steps you listed that your carrier had you do where I just reset the network settings. I’ve sent a text to the same group chat where I first noticed the problem, and asked them to respond when they receive my message. All but one have responded so far. I know he’s at work so I’ll give it a few. In the meantime, what “signal” did Verizon send to your phone during the steps you listed??

We also upgraded from iPhone X to iPhone 12 pro. This has happened to us as well. I'm missing responses from both group texts as well as individual texts. Someone mentioned to my husband that they did not received a text he sent when he questioned them about it. Also, I did not receive a text from another person when they responded to me. I gave feedback to Apple; hope they remedy this soon as it's frustrating!

Ok so in addition to the missing sms text messages, I’ve also noticed that the SMS messages i do receive do not sync their read status across my devices. I have text message forwarding setup on my iMac and iPad Pro. Before the sms would be received on each device and if i read it on one it would clear the notification as read on the other two devices. Since I upgraded to the 12 pro this is not longer occurring. Any one else?

I’ve done all of the following: signed out of iCloud, disable messages in iCloud, disabled iMessage on each device and it’s still happening.

To update the original issue: T-Mobile followed up with me today indicating they could track the SMS messages I sent as well as the ones sent to me and they all routed properly. Meaning they went from my device to the t-mobile server then were sent out appropriately. Also they could see the messages sent to my number and showed that the t-mobile relay server sent them to my device. They stated the issue is either with my SIM card (which I’ve already swapped twice) or the iPhone hardware/software. Come on Apple fix this.

IOS 14.2. Tonight I noticed I’m also having the same problems described in this thread with missing text messages. They appear to be in group chats that include non- IPhone users. In these groups I’ve experienced missing messages from both non-IPhone and IPhone users.

I downloaded the Verizon Messages + app and suddenly am seeing several missing texts going back weeks. Ugh!

I too am looking for a permanent solution!

DannyLLDC I think you may be onto something. I have long suspected that this has something to do with a Wi-Fi/cellular handoff. I want to see the problem happen again, then I will turn off Wi-Fi calling as you were advised.

DannyLLDC, I'm away in the mountains and do not have WiFi. Problems persist even only on cellular.

Simple settings adjustments aren't the answer. There's a fundamental software issue, something is broken in iOS and the messaging app.

I am also experiencing this issue. It is in group texts where one user is android, however it is not always the android user’s texts that are missing. T-Mobile. iPhone 12. Same issue for my husband with the same new phone. Very frustrating!

SMS group messages on iPhone 12 pro only coming through sporadically. I’ve been working with Apple for the last seven days along with my carrier. Verizon did a full reboot at work briefly with one group and stopped that night. Here’s my case number if any of the rest of you are having the same issue. Same thing here! I've only had my 12Pro for a day and a half but this was happening on my 8+ too. I have T-Mobile and assumed it was a carrier thing.

We shouldn't have to download third party apps to have a texting conversation with an android, whether it's a group chat or a single thread. Why can't Apple just get RCS messaging - a universal way to text would be great.

FYI, I turned Wifi calling off last night and I was missing a message this morning, so that didn't make much of a difference. I am continuing to work with Apple, as I have sent them logs of data from my phone, so hopefully they will find the issue and fix it soon.

They are aware that there is an issue, I talked to 2 senior advisors and a member of the engineering team actually called me. They took multiple logs and photos of the issue. My only hope is that enough people are sending their complaints and feedback so they know it is a widespread issue. The member of the engineering team told me he had read through this thread so I suppose that is good news. Lets hope for a fix soon.

I've tried everything here and sent Apple feedback but switching back to my iPhone X has been the only thing that worked. Long time Apple supporter/developer first time Apple product returner. Very sad day for me, hope this gets resolved but today was my last day to initiate a return. What's really upsetting is I've brought so many iPhone users over from Android and now I have to say hold off on the 12 series.

I was told that group messages with android and iPhone users are not apple issues but carrier issues. If it’s iMessage then it’s an apple thing. But it looks like it’s a bunch of us on all different carriers. *shrug* and then I go to download the new OS for my Mac and that’s not working too. Lol. What is happening?!?
