iPhone 12 not receiving group texts

I am also having this issue. My husband and I both upgraded our iPhone 11 Pro Max’s to 12 Pro Max’s. He isn’t having the issue as badly as I am, but still having it. It seems to be mostly in group messages, but I’m worried I may just not be getting the other single messages and just don’t know. We are both on T-Mobile. This issue seems to be random as well, I receive some messages and I don’t receive others. I hope there is a fix for it soon because it’s very frustrating.

I did the same thing and it didn’t fix my messages other than now the number of unread messages appears over the iMessage icon but the notification doesn’t work - extremely poor Apple quality affecting so many people in a very important product launch.

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't get to read through all of the replies, so I missed the comments that it worked for a certain amount of time before it stopped working again. I will keep an eye on it.

Wondering if this doesn't get fixed in a software update soon, will Apple offer any sort of options for people who are now stuck with an expensive phone that can't do basic text messaging correctly? I love my iPhone 12 in every other way, but I have this issue and it is simply a dealbreaker.

They’re full of it that they’re not aware — they most certainly are aware of this problem. They are just saying that to avoid any slow in iPhone 12 sales!!! They botched up iOS 14.2 and they know it; and they refuse to put out an all points bulletin as to when it will be fixed on a production level which is frankly unconcienable!!!!

I continue to have this same issue of sporadically not receiving texts in a group chat. It’s been happening since I bought and activated a new iPhone 12 from Verizon 2 weeks ago. I’ve tried the suggestions appearing in this thread, but the problem persists. Has anyone figured out a fix for this yet?

I’m also having these issues with group sms. I work group sms is missing multiple messages and now I don’t know what’s going on with everyone and it’s very frustrating. I am also on Verizon with a new iPhone 12 pro. Anyone find a fix yet?

Same here and I’m dating a Gator so all friendly rilvary! Been my favorite one especially because of its back and forth nature as of late (we won’t speak about the dark days of the 00s lol).

I have just downloaded the update that is meant to fix this, I still have the same problem, this is beyond frustrating, this needs to be addressed immediately, why are they still selling them if they don’t work!? Love how they take your money not seeming to care if the product works, surely sending a text should be the easiest thing to do on a phone!? Should have waited before upgrading :-(

I just got my new iPhone 12 Pro and noticed that I’ve been getting text messages from yesterday’s conversation in a group message. This means that I did not get the messages yesterday in real time when they were being sent. This is a critical issue as this was an important meeting and we use the group message to communicate. I’ve been getting these disjointed texts all day and I’m still getting them. How does this get fixed?

This keeps happening with me. I’m going crazy. Missing all my groups sms text threads. My running group. Hiking group. And then I see “likes” of messages I have never seen and have no clue what they are talking about.

I am missing out on important updates. Is there a way to fix this. I have upgraded. I have downloaded latest versions and reset the phone. Anyone know anything else to fix this.

first it’s my old phones batteries dying if I didn’t upgrade. Now I upgrade and this. So frustrating!!

I’m having the exact same issue of missing random texts in threads w/mult people. It’s annoying bc it’s not ALL texts, just like 50-60% it seems when friends screen shot the convo separately. I’m on Verizon. It’s incredibly annoying.

I am having the same problem. My friend sent a group message (iphone user) to 5 people with a picture and text and i did not receive it. My husband who is an Android user received her text.

We also have a group text with my kids and all are iphone users except for my husband and i will randomly get some of the text but not all.

Also having this issue with my iPhone 12 Pro but not on a group, just normal text messaging between my girlfriend and I. Both use iPhones. Had times where two messages come in seconds apart and only have a notification for one of them. She has an iPhone XR and doesn't seem to have this issue.

After updating to 14.2.1 I thought the issue was resolved. Texts seem to be normal in group chats, but I’ve now confirmed the problem is persisting. This is pretty disappointing. Been with Apple since iPhone 3, software quality/stability seems to be degrading as time goes on.
