m4a to wav import settings

I'm converting m4a files to wav so they can be played on a device that will not play m4a. The default wav settings are 44.1kHz and 16 bit (CD quality). I understand the whole lossy/lossless formats etc. Will converting to wav 48kHz and 24 bit produce a *more accurate* copy of the m4a than the default 44.1/16?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Yes, I understand the concept of Lossy/Lossless and compression etc...you can't put back what's been removed.

The question is will a wav file resampled from the m4a to 48/24 rather than 44.1/16 be a more accurate copy of the m4a music file soundwise. File size is not a concern.

Often with this change there seems to be more headroom and smoother high frequencies.

Thanks!
