2nd Generation Apple Pencil Tip Worn Down After Less Than a Month

I've had my i pad pro and apple pencil for about a month and I've been using a matte screen protector and using it heavily for school work every day and my pencil tip has already worn down to the point that I can see the metal exposed on the apple pencil tip. I don't write very heavily on the screen because I wanted to avoid damaging the pencil tip, but it still ended up happening. Is this normal, or maybe I have a messed up screen protector or something?

Your matt screen protector, being textured, has a considerably greater coefficient of friction than the smooth glass screen surface. As such, the relatively soft Pencil Tip will wear at an accelerated rate - and must be replaced much more frequently.

The Pencil Tip is a consumable item. Replacement tips are available in packs of four from Apple. The tip must be changed if the is visible wear. If the metal transducer is visible, to avoid damage to both the iPad screen and the Pencil, you would be best advised to discontinue use until the tip is replaced.

The tip simply unscrews from the body of the Pencil.

Hello sampix13,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand the you're needing to replace the tip of your Apple Pencil and have questions about the screen protector you're using causing this damage to occur. Although we can't make that determination, it would be a good idea to reach out to Apple Support to determine what options you have for replacing it and to see if they have any recommendations regarding the screen protector in use. You can contact them directly at Get Support.

Best wishes.
