can't sign in on mac

I can't sign onto my mac. I can see my avatar to sign in, but don't get the hand to open the window

Try this

Reset SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Reset NVAM https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

Reboot holding Shift to enter Safe Mode https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262. It's a longer boot while macOS does some maintenance under the hood.

Reboot normally and see if it helps.
