It says that delivery will take 2-3 weeks yet i live in mainland UK, is this a mistake.
I suspect that is correct. Depending on the model, delivery times for a MacBook Pro in the U.S. currently range from Nov 9-16 to Dec 1-8 -- and may be longer than that depending on options chosen.
That would be a very long time... if it were merely being pulled from a warehouse in the UK.
MacBooks are currently built to your order at a factory in China, and sent by air by the pallet-load to the closest port of entry, then handed off to local expedited delivery. Once it clears customs, it will only be a day or two before it arrives, typically well within the promised delivery window.
Backlogs are currently quite substantial.
