Hello, i'm trying to trim a clip on final cut pro but it's only letting me trim at the start of the playhead or at the end, but not in between. I've attached a screenshot below to show what I mean. It's not letting me trim where I want to, it keeps letting me trim at the start of this random transparent bar or at the end of it. Someone please help asap.

You are zoomed right into the timeline. This shaded area is one frame of video.
You cannot cut in part of a frame. You can only cut video in whole frames.
Video uses frames - e.g. 25 or 30 frames per second. There is no such thing as a fraction of a frame.
Audio, on the other hand, can be cut in subframes, if necessary.
"Cutting on the beat" is overrated, anyway, but if you want, cut at the closest frame boundary. I'm pretty sure nobody will find that it is "off".
No you weren't. You have never been able to cut inside a video frame on no video application ever.
Don't look at the filmstrip. Those aren't frames. It's just a representation of the content. When you zoom as you have all the frames look alike.
You can trim audio more precisely, down to 1/80 of a frame. Video is playing up to 60 images a second. If the audio is within any one of the frame, beginning, middle, or end, of the range of the frame, the viewer will see and hear it simultaneously. In fact it can be in the frame before or after you cannot see the difference, not at that frame rate. The majority of viewers cannot even see a two frame discrepancy at lower frame rates.
But before, when I used the left and right arrow keys, i could move it easily without the frame by frame and I was able to trim in the middle of the frame as well. Is there an option to turning it off or anything?
So how can I trim on the music beat exactly if the I can't trim on the exact point I want?
