iPhone 12 screen not bright

Hello, Yesterday my iPhone 12 arrived, an upgrade from my iPhone 8. I knew immediately when I had both phones powered on next to each other, that there was a stark difference between screen brightness and warmth on both models.

The iPhone 12 screen is simply not as bright on full brightness. It is also much more warm in tone. iPhone 8 is much brighter and bluer.

I made sure to have the settings exactly the same, full brightness, true tone on, no other tweaks to the screen settings - on both phones.

Compared to my wife’s iPhone 11 same settings, it appears to look the same in comparison to my old iPhone 8. Her phone is also brighter and bluer.

I am noticing that I need to have my iPhone 12 screen on full brightness all the time so far, even inside my house. This is not some thing I ever needed to do with my iPhone 8.

I am wondering if this is normal or a defective device.

I had the same issue and after long struggle decided to remove my tempered glass which had a black coating on the edges. This seem to have solved my issue and screen is much bright and vibrant. In case your have edge to edge kind of tempered glass , can give a try.

Go to settings display and test size- turn reduce white point on and scale it all the way to 100% then turn the button back off and it will be so much brighter! I played around with my phone for a while and saw that and it’s much brighter now!

Ambo_r is right. I went to settings>display and brightness> then night shift> and turned the Color Temperature down to Less Warm. Brightened it up more than my iPhone 8!
