duplicate pages

When I try to duplicate a page, it duplicates all the pages. I can't seem to select a single or multiple specific pages for duplication, it always duplicates the whole book.

HI so-han,

In a Pages word processing document, when you select a 'page' by selecting its thumbnail in the left sidebar, you are actually selecting the Section containing that page.

"pages' in this type of Pages document are created as they are needed to hold the text (and other content), and are deleted as they are no longer needed to hold that contnt exist only because they are needed to contain the text (and various objects).

In this type of document, you dan duplicate a 'page' by selecting and copying the content of that page, then pasting that content where you want the duplicate page to be placed. You may need to insert a Page break (Insert menu) to force that content to start on anew page.

You can select the thumbnail (then copy it and paste it elsewhere in the document) by first isolating thatpage in a section of its own.

To do that:

  • Click to place the insertion point at the end of the text on the page before the one you want to copy.
  • Go Insert (menu) > Section Break
  • Place the insertion point at the end of the text on the page you want to isolate.
  • Go Insert > Section break.

Your Page is now the only page in its Section.

  • Select that Page's thumbnail in the sidebar.
  • Check that the yellow section boundary includes only that page.
  • Press command-D to Duplicate.
  • Drag the duplicate to the position where you want it in the Document
    • You may need to nsert a Section break at this point in the document to allow inserting his duplicate section at that point.

In a Pages 'page layout' document, each 'page' is a separate section. In this type of Pages document you can select and duplicate a single page/section, then drag it to the place you want it.

Barry
