How to get Pages to number pages properly

My Pages won't number from 2 on and I can't type the page number as it will copy to every other page. How do you fix that?

  1. On the first page of your document, click the header or footer box in which you want the page numbers to appear, then click the Insert Page number prompt that appears, and choose the format you want (likely the 'number only' format at the top of the list. Since this is the first page of the document, and you have not yet provided pages any contrary instruction, the number 1 will appear.
  2. Click the Document button to open the Document Inspector, then the Section label to go to the Section pane of that Inspector.
  3. In the Section pane, make one of these choices:
    • Click the checkbox beside "Hide on first page of section" (Blue arrow)

to hide the number 1 on the first page, but show the page numbers, starting with 2, on succeeding pages

OR

    • Click the radio button (small circle) beside "Start at" (Red Arrow) and set the stepper cell to 2

to insert 2 on the first page of your document, 3 on the second page, etc.

Regards,

Barry
