Can Mid 2013 MacBook Air Hardware be upgraded?

Hi Folks,

I have to ask this question here because I can't actually speak to or chat with Apple Support as the serial number on my device is not recognised online and I don't really want to a visit a store unless I absolutely have to.

I have a Mid 2013 MacBook Air that I purchased in 2013. It has 8 GB of memory and 128 GB SSD and the battery doesn't last any more than an hour or so at best. I know that it is possible to get Apple Support to replace the battery (I can see this online with a price), but what I'm wondering is if it is possible get the memory upgraded to 16 GB and the SSD replaced with something that's at least 256 GB or 512 GB.

Does anyone know if this is something Apple can or will do? If it is, I may make a visit to the store.

If not, and the battery is all they will replace, does anyone know how long the battery replacement takes? I use the MacBook Air for work on a daily basis so sending it away for more than a day or two would become problematic.

Thank you very much!

The battery can be replaced. The RAM cannot be upgraded (that’s true for all MBAs). The SSD can be upgraded, but Apple won’t. A 3rd party service shop can, or you can DIY (check OWC for kits/instructions).
