Why am I getting spam text message with hotmail address in imessages?

Hi Support team,

My wife's iphone keeps on receiving notification of text message with random hotmail address and random phone number in imessages.

I have set the "Filter Unknown Senders" on, but the phone still get the notification from these strangers.

I really doubt it's a bug in your IOS. It definitely cannot filter the unknown sender! I think you should send a ticket to your development team. The issue is really a bad experience to the user!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like your wife is receiving spam text messages. You’re in the right place, we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

If you have turned on Filter Unknown Senders, this will turn off iMessage notifications from those not in your contacts and send them to the Unknown Senders tab in Messages. If these are SMS/MMS text messages, and not iMessages, they are not filtered. The following information is from the "Report spam or junk in the Messages app" section of the Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch article:

"To report SMS and MMS messages, contact your carrier."
