Fitness competitions - can’t invite

So this is odd. My wife and I have Apple Watch 5s and iPhone 12s (one is a pro). I can invite any of my friends to a fitness competition except my wife. When I select her the option just isn’t there.

On her phone, she can invite me and this works.

Neither of use is hiding from the other; i can’t see a reason for this behaviour.

We both have less than 10 people in the fitness app friends section.

And we’ve removed & re-added each other.

Any suggestions?

To help troubleshoot this behavior, we suggest to follow the section in this article that says, "Get help with Activity Sharing": Share your Activity and compete with friends with your Apple Watch
