Does a Series 6 watch require a separate line to be used?

My current provider, Spectrum Mobile, does not support the Apple Watch. Is there a way to get the benefits from the Series 6 without having it's own cellular number? Verizon says "it has to have it's own."

Also does Apple Chat work any longer? I've been trying to get this question answered and have tried 4 or 5 different chats and never gotten anywhere.

The Apple Watch cellular shares the iPhone's phone number. The carriers that support the Apple Watch charge a monthly fee for this service. In the U.S. the fee is $10 per month added to the iPhone's monthly cellular bill.

These are the carriers that support the Apple Watch.

The GPS only Apple Watch will do Everything the cellular model will do as long as your iPhone is nearby.

The cellular model lets you leave your iPhone at home while you go for a walk, run, bike ride, etc...

And nearby is generally somewhere inside the same moderate sized wood frame construction home.
