Camera issues iPhone 8 plus

Since the update to ios 14.1 the image quality has been horrible. The background is always blown out and images appear blurred. Is there a fix?

Hey there yzi2424,

Relying on your camera to take great photos when you want is the experience we want for you, so let's start ruling out some possible causes:

  1. You mentioned having iOS 14.1 installed, but the latest is iOS 14.2. Have you updated to this newest version yet? You can check the version currently installed within Settings > General > About.
  2. If you test taking photos on different modes, does the same issue occur even after focusing on something in the photo?
  3. Is there any covering on either camera, like a case or screen protector?

We look forward to hearing back about these details, and take care!

No case and nothing covering the camera. Inspected the camera with a magnifying glass there are no scratches or blemishes. The upgrade to 14.2 possibly made the quality worse. There seems to be a depth sensing issue where objects are perceived further than they need to be. It's almost like the camera attempts a wider field of view than required, which ultimately causes blur. This with standard zoom (1x). Also the camera blows out backgrounds completely when there is light. This is something that was happening before, but now it just happens all there time, even when there is very little light in the background. This happens on BOTH front and back cameras. This is a software and processing issue.
