iPhone 12 ios 14.1 notifications way too loud

Since updating to ios 14.1 imessage and text notifications are screamingly loud! It's very disturbing, especially while at work. I have my volume on the lowest setting and still am experiencing this issue. I know I can mute it, but that's not what I'm looking for. I just want notifications to be the same volume as I set my phone too. And when a text pops up, if I click on it to reply without opening the home screen, it also is annoying loud. I sure would appreciate any help you can offer.
