FaceTime on family sharing not working

I created an Apple ID for my child (under 13), added that to my family sharing account, created a user account for him, had him log onto his account, fired up Facetime and had him log in under his Apple ID... but he can't make calls. What am I missing? I see articles about people having this same issue but never any resolution!

Hello, Clb019.

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! We understand that your child is unable to make FaceTime calls and that they have an Apple ID for children under 13.

To help us determine the next best steps, please reply back with the following information:

-Is this occurring on a Mac? What version of macOS? Find out which macOS your Mac is using - Apple Support

-Are there any Screen Time restrictions or limits that would prevent FaceTime from working? If you're unsure, try toggling Content & Privacy restrictions off/on. Use Screen Time on your Mac - Apple Support

-What happens when your child tries to make a FaceTime call?

We look forward to hearing back from you. Take care!
