How do I mirror the video while "importing media" directly into final cut pro?
I do not like having an un-mirrored video while I am trying to record content. Is it possible to change the default to have it be mirrored instead?

You will probably have to use a different application to do the recording, and then bring in the file to FCP for editing.
PhotoBooth, which is already in your mac, is one that will mirror the image while recording.
When I look at myself in the video screen that is being imported, if I tilt my head to the right, it looks like I am tilting it to the left. My right side is in front of my left side on the screen. I would prefer the video to function like a mirror, so that I can more accurately move during the video.
I don't understand what you mean by mirror and unmirror when importing. Could you explain in more detail exactly what you're doing, what you see when you do, and what you'd like to see?
The application can't do that. I'd suggest using feedback to make a feature request. It's certainly doable as the FaceTime camera behaves the way you want.
