"iPad has been found" email alert

I marked my iPad as lost on the "Find My" app and shortly after I got the "iPad has been found" email alert, but no communications from whoever found it. Also, it hasn't moved from the location where it was before.

My question is if "has been found" on this alert means that Apple identified the location where the iPad is, or that someone found my iPad and it is toying around with the lock screen?

Thanks!

iPad mini, iOS 9

Fake news. Sure it wasn't an SMS message?

Apple does not look for missing devices. They will be trying to get you to provide your Apple ID and password to unlock your device. Just ignore them.
