Spectrum License use by Apple TV

I was given a sales pitch that if I purchased Apple TV that Apple TV would automatically use my Spectrum licenses for various channels. Similar to what you can do with a Fire TV. I've bought a Apple TV and don't see it interfacing with my Spectrum licenses. If I try to run a app for a service I have a license for like HBO, Apple TV "only" has the option of purchasing an HBO license. It did not interface with Spectrum or even allow me to type in credentials like Fire TV would. The only interface with Spectrum I see so far is that Apple TV has a Spectrum app. Is the Spectrum app the only thing that Fire TV does with Spectrum and all I heard was a dishonest sales pitch? Or maybe there is some settings that I just need to update to get things working as promised? I have a new MQD22LL/A 32mb Apple TV 4k

Sad? Give us a break. I have an Apple TV and a Spectrum cable account and have no such issues. HBO Max works. Showtime Anytime works. SciGO works. They all work. Try going to Settings->Users and Accounts->TV Provider and select Spectrum. Sign in and then turn ON the apps you want to use with your Spectrum account.

Spectrum on Apple TV does promise the Zero Sign-on TV provider setup. If you have internet and TV from Spectrum, then the TV provider configuration will be automatic from the recognized connection.

Zero Sign-on makes the Single Sign-on automatic, but does not magically do anything for apps that do not support this.

The extend of the use of the TV provider setting is mostly about live TV networks, e.g. ABC, NBC, Fox, CW, CBS, CNN. These apps that require a TV provider, will now have that part configured automatically. No manual sign-in needed.

Additionally, all the Spectrum content will (also) be available in the Spectrum app.

HBO may be an exception or special case, with the recent transition to HBO Max.

Some apps may have special sign-in procedures.

Sign in through a TV or mobile provider - HBO Max Help Center

From what I read about it, it should be able to work.

Sad. It looks like I will be putting Roku devices on all my TVs then. Roku has apps for Apple TV and premium channels purchased from Spectrum. Apple TV will just be used for Apple content. I don't already own Roku devices so more stuff to buy. Apple should at least have the app options of Roku And Fire TV. Those will let you sign into apps using an account from any provider like Spectrum.
