How do I connect my contacts from my Sim card to my phone it will not let me if I just select import from them card

If you select Import contacts they will import from the SIM to the iPhone. The iPhone does not write contacts to the SIM, it never has. All the SIM has on it for the iPhone is your cellular account information.
