What about non-Apple users?

I can't wrap my head around non-Apple users not able to view or download a shared folder/file. Great majority of users are non-Apple. Probably won't become users to download a shared file. Makes no sense. Am I missing something?

Your macOS built-in network file sharing does support being available on the network to Windows-based computers. In fact, it uses the SMB protocol which was created by Microsoft.


Make sure you're setting things up properly though. This part of the macOS user manual covers it very well:
