Apple watch interferes with my Bluetooth earbuds connecting to my iPhone

I have an iPhone XS and ever since the iso14 update my bluetooth earbuds says they are connected to the iPhone but the audio will only play through my phone unless I turn off my apple watch. Once I turn off my apple watch everything works like it is suppose to. I also have a bluetooth device in my car but I have no issues with it even when my watch is on. It just seems to be my earbuds that has the issue. I did not have this issue prior to updating to the iso14 update. Are there any suggestions on what is going on?
