iPhone 12 empty box delivery. Anyone else?

I was lucky enough to get a release day pre order but missed the delivery as it was the day I flew out for a holiday :( so had to wait until I got back.

I scheduled the delivery for the weekend when I knew I’d be back. Got the delivery, ripped open the box and inside there was only the charging cable. No phone. I was devastated. My first time buying directly from Apple.

I got on live chat with apple and they said they’d investigate but could take 2-8 days. Just wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen to them?

That is what I thought, if you read my above reply again you will notice it was a response to QuickTimeKirk, not to you. If I were you I would write down the names of the people you speak to at Apple and if possible get a direct phone number. They do have work with the shipper in this situation but you can try calling whoever it was and see if they will deal with your directly. Is this your first time ordering this way? Seems like the box would have felt awfully light when they handed it to you.

If you use a search engine you will find this happens with every release of every pre-ordered product.

it wasn’t left on the porch. It was hand delivered to me. My guess is that it was stolen in the delivery depot in the 7+ days it was sitting there whilst I was away

Thats more likely than Apple just simply not packing a phone in the box I would imagine.

Things laying on your porch can get stolen.

Ask UPS or the shipper. They have insurance.

I don't think I've seen an instance where they go to the porch, open the outer box, open the Apple box, remove the iPhone and put it all back together.

I didn’t even question it. The delivery driver woke me up, so I just grabbed the box off him and didn’t really register anything.

opened up the box as quickly as I could and boom, no phone. Going to try contact them tomorrow to get an update.
