Workouts Apple Watch 6 to iPhone

Some workouts are registered in my iPhone (X) in ‘activity’ others don’t. My outdoor walking and Pilates workouts at my Apple Watch are registered correct, not only in the total amount of trainings time and the calculations of active calories but also as distinguished workouts. My ‘swimming bath’ (indoor pool) workout is registered in the total time and calories on my iPhone but not as an independent workout.

Hi norbertb53,

To make sure we're on the same page, your swimming work does register under your daily activity, but not as a workout, is that right?

If so, we have a couple of questions to help us get to the bottom of the issue:

  • Are these workouts you're manually selecting and starting, or are you using the automatic workout detection feature? Use the Workout app on your Apple Watch
  • Is this the first time this has happened or does it consistently not register swimming as a workout?

Feel free to reply to this thread.

Cheers!

Thanks for the additional information norbertb53,

As your Apple Watch is fully updated, we'd recommend making sure your paired iPhone X is fully updated as well. If it isn't take a moment to backup and do so, the latest iOS version is iOS 14.2:

After updating, if you notice workouts still intermittently do not save, reach out to Apple Support in your area for additional assistance:

Take care!

Hey norbertb53,

Glad to hear! Regarding the one missing swim workout, if the other workouts are logging properly, there may not be an option to recover that specific workout. We'd recommend keeping track of swimming workouts moving forward and confirm if they long properly in the future.

If they do not, we'd recommend reaching out to our Apple Watch experts in your area:

Cheers!

It's about the workouts I manually started on my Apple Watch, it sums up in Activity but the workouts sometimes don't appear as a separate workout in activity on my iPhone X. Since the installation of Watch OS 7.1 none of the activities (pilates, walking) did appear as a separate workout on my iPhone. Before installing W OS 7.1 it (pilates, walking) mostly did. The swimming workout never did (but because of Covid-19 public swimming pools are closed now in the Netherlands, so I don't have a recent example).

I had - until October 25th - an apple watch series 3. This problem didn't (ever) occur. I enjoy my series 6 but ... yeah not to the max.

thanks for answering (also in advance)
