HDR only works with 6ft cable

I’m beyond confused with my system to the point I now believe something is wrong with Apples hardware or software. I just got a new 4k tv with hdr for a secondary monitor and with the too short to use 6ft usb c to hdmi everything works fine. Cheap $10 cable no problems. But with my setup it’s absolutely required to have the ten ft cable. I’m not rearranging all the furniture etc. I’m now on the 5th cable that simply won’t send hdr signal. I purchased 4 different (better and more expensive each time) hdmi to usb c cables advertised as high speed, 4k hdr ready etc and none work. Just got a regular ultra high speed 8k capable hdmi plus a high speed adapter to try that route and same exact thing. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Something has to be screwed up within the OS. Wasted $150 on cables that all have to be returned etc. what could possibly cause something so outrageously stupid to happen...? I just want the computer to work with the tv as intended like it’s intended to do.

Thank you for the help. I haven’t tried two six ft cables although considered it but I’m thinking somehow the hdr signal from my tv maybe isn’t capable of going further than 6ish ft at full strength with the longer cable. Seems weird but idk I just set it back up with the usb c to hdmi cable without the hdr functionality but it’s all in 4k and looks good enough so it’ll have to do. Most of what I’m viewing isn’t hdr content, just thought it would be nice to have full functionality but it’s all good.
