How to remove closed captioning from the screen?

After initial setup we have closed captioning on the screen while watching ABC live news. How can it be removed?

For default behavior:

Settings﹥Accessibility﹥Subtitles and Captioning﹥Closed Captions and SDH﹥On|Off

For behavior during playback:

Press the Touch surface on the Siri Remote three times (if that action is the Accessibility Shortcut key binding).

or

Swipe down during playback to access the Info|Audio|Subtitles panel, and turn subtitles to Off.
