Mac mini 2018 Base System Device Driver issue

Hi,

I've got Windows 10 Pro installed on a 2018 Mac mini using Boot Camp. There's a device under Device Manager with an exclamation mark called "Base System Device" that is missing a driver. What is the device, and where do I find a driver for it? The HW ID of the device is as follows:

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_16BE&SUBSYS_0000106B&REV_01

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_16BE&SUBSYS_0000106B

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_16BE&CC_088000

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_16BE&CC_0880

Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks,

Dave

Hey, thanks for the pointers. After the Broadcom vendor ID, I was able to dig around and found out the device is a Broadcom Memory Card reader. That's not in the Mac mini, so it must be the one in my USB-C hub.

I didn't get much time to troubleshoot it today, but I have had to reboot in and out of Mac OS and Windows multiple times today just for work stuff. The last time I checked under Windows, the warning about the Base System Device is gone. Quick test shows the memory card reader is working fine in both OSes, so I guess the problem sorted itself out. However, should it come back, I'll know where to start digging.

Thanks again.

I had not noticed this driver being missing before. I know in a PC that Base driver typically is the chipset driver and I usually go to the manufactures web site and download it. Of course this is not possible with Boot Camp on a Mac. I figured all the drivers I needed was installed with the Boot Camp utility. Might try contacting Apple support to see if this is just a bug or something else. I know myself I do not notice any issues with the Windows 10 install.
