Okay community you're my last hope!
I am having issues with the control strip on my MacBook Pro (2017). It is currently running Catalina 10.15.7
My control strip went completely black for no reason to my knowledge. No spills, drops, or anything of that nature. It had been acting up for a few days previous to this. It was flashing a white light all across the strip, then one day it went completely black and hasn’t “woken up.”
What confuses me is that the touch of the strip still works… It will still adjust volume or take a screenshot (etc.) I just can’t see what I’m doing! Every time I turn on my mac it flashes white very quickly and turns black again.
I have tried resetting the SMC, resetting the NVRAM, and restarting with safe boot. I did talk to apple support. None of this worked for me... Unfortunately, I think I may be at the point where this is a hardware issue with the light display..
Any ideas I can try before I take this in to be looked at? Anything in settings or even a terminal command? Is there anything to check in Activity Monitor? Has anyone else had this issue? I am really looking for any way to fix this on my own.
Thanks in advance!
If resetting both SMC and MVRAM and no resolve you have a hardware issue.

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
