Why do my Macs and devices keep asking for my appleid password? iCloud login loop bug?!
Lately my iPhone 8 Plus, my two iMacs and my MacBook Pro (10.15.7) all keep asking for my AppleID and password. I checked https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/ and saw that there was an issue noted with iCloud quoted below
"iCloud Account & Sign In - Resolved Issue
Today [Wednesday Nov 4, 2020], 8:00 AM - 10:18 AM
Some users were affected
Users may have experienced a problem with this service."
However, I had trouble with this before and after the times indicated. I used all of the Hacks found at
https://www.imore.com/ios-help-how-fix-repeat-icloud-sign-requests-iphone-and-ipad
and at
https://appletoolbox.com/icloud-keeps-asking-for-password-ios-and-os-x-fix/
This, I've found, at the second site is a well-known problem, aptly named the iCloud login loop bug.
You may experience this iCloud login loop bug after an update. You are asked to enter your iCloud password, and the popup message goes away. But only temporarily, after a short time (usually after a reboot) that iCloud popup reappears asking for the password AGAIN.
I tried many of the fixes noted and it helped, but only temporarily. At this point it seems easier to just supply the AppleID and password each time rather than follow all of the steps listed. Or sometimes I just click cancel but I have to do that multiple times.
This is an issue on all of my devices and whenever I use Music. Apple ID and iCloud topics
Is there a more elegant or convenient solution to this problem? If not, why the [insert expletive] not?
