AirPlay 4K video from iPhone 11 Pro Max through Apple TV 4K

I've tried looking online but can't really find any sort of answer to this and wondered if you could help me out with this question please.


I'm shortly going to be in the market for a new TV, and will more than likely get a 4K TV.


I have some 4K video that I recorded on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and also plan on recording more 4K video when I get the iPhone 12 Pro Max.


Presently when I have video on my iPhone, I AirPlay it over on to my TV through my Apple TV.


I was wondering if I would be able to AirPlay the 4K videos over to my Apple TV 4K and get it to play the 4K video in its full 4K definition on the 4K TV that I am planning on getting.

tvOS 14 (the operating system for Apple TV 4K) supports AirPlay of 4K video from the Photos app on mobile Apple devices with iOS 14/iPadOS 14. That is likely the only way at this time.

Yeah the 4K videos in question would be in the Photos app on my iPhone, so they should AirPlay in their full resolution based on what you have said.


Also, going from off of your link, the mention of:


"4K YouTube support: Watch the latest YouTube videos in their full 4K glory"


Would also be useful to me as I presently watch quite a bit of 4K YouTube video through the Chrome browser on my 5K iMac and also HD video through the YouTube Apple TV app also.
