trying to reset an apple ipod touch gen 5 with a email i cannot access

I'm trying to access my iPod touch gen 5 and I've connected it to iTunes and reset but it wants my apple id and password but its many years old and i cannot figure out what the password and apple id is and I've tried many passwords and apple ids etc. so how can i get it to where i can use it again without the apple id and password?
