2013 iMac

All I get is a black screen with a whit apple and the white loading line takes about 40 mins to load and then nothing I have not been successful in trying to start in safe mode unless I am doing it wrong. Please help.

I'd say the internal drive is having problems. When macos gets errors when reading data, it tries to reread. This takes longer. I assume this is happening. You could boot up in recovery mode command + r. Try running disk utility on the failed drive.


Does you machine boot up successfully in recovery mode.


You could contact macsales.com and buy an external drive. Ask them what drive is best. I upgraded to an external SSD. My system flies now.
