Hello Edward,
Thats a great question, and you've come to a great place for help! If you're wanting to listen to audio using your Mac you may be able to do so using GarageBand. GarageBand allows you to connect your bass guitar to your Mac, and recorded the audio using the steps outlined in the following article. This can also help you listen, not only record while play.
Record sound from a microphone or an electric instrument
Have a great day!
Hello Edward,
We apologize for any confusion regarding the prior information. The link previously included provides great information on how to connect your bass guitar to your Mac. You may be able to play your guitar without having to record in GarageBand to achieve the desired results.
You can also find additional information through the GarageBand Help website. If you have additional questions regarding GarageBand it's recommended to reach out to Apple via the Get Support website.
They'll be able to provide more information regarding that application, and how to play your instruments through that app.
Take care.
I appreciate your response. But, I still don't get it. I don't want to record or use any sounds or effects, just play along with my iTunes library and listen through bluetooth headphones or bluetooth speaker. I assume I need some kind of interface to get my bass into the Mac via usb-c, but then broadcast the iTunes/bass "mix" via bluetooth. Could you try answering again; I'm grateful.
