Spotify app doesn’t work on Apple Watch series 6

I have Apple Watch series 6 and iPhone 11pro. I have paired the watch and installed the Spotify app but it doesn’t connect / control Spotify. I have uninstalled the app and put it back on a few times. Software is up to date on both devices
