World clock face colour (black or white)

The clock face colour confuses me. For example, does a black 5.30 mean AM or PM? In winter it can be dark at both those times. Does it mean AM or PM? Or if night or day, how are these defined? There's an old thread which doesn't have a satisfactory, referenced answer, and I can's find an Apple explanation.

Well why don't you get in touch with Apple then use the Feedback form here,

https://www.apple.com/feedback/macos.html

the basic setting is for the time in your vicinity, how are Apple supposed to know you want to

know the times in various cities across the world.

In Notifications. World Clock you can set up different clocks or different cities.

On mine I can see that it is 9:40pm in Sydney.

There are also countless apps you could download that do that function for you.

Thanks for getting back, but is there any Apple documentation to explain and verify this is the case? And if it is so, then it's positively unhelpful. If I'm calling someone in Ontario or St Petersburg, etc from Australia, I have absolutely no idea when sunrise is in those cities. A 24-hour clock option would be helpful for ex-US users who are used to this less ambiguous system, or even an AM/ PM indicator. it's the little things that irritate :)

Thanks, Catalina 10.15.7. You confirm the confusion with ' Auckland. It’s 12:26pm there and the face on the clock is dark. ' And there's no indication in World Clock of AM/ PM. Also, I can accept that the 6 AM/ PM switch is a clue, but this is not indicated ANYWHERE by Apple to my knowledge. How are users supposed to know? 6 AM/ PM seems an arbitrary time if so, and doesn't reflect day/ night. It's trivial I know :) A 24-hour clock option would be good. Have fed back to Apple.
