Handwashing chimes on Apple Watch not working after update

I do have apple support with my iWatch and was thinking of calling them in the next couple of days. When I do, I’ll write back to let everyone know what the rep says about this issue. But I agree with pixelpalace. It would be nice if an Apple rep could reply to all of these concerns!

I have the same issue. The handwashing chimes used to be entirely consistent. Since the update, however, it's either erratic or simply doesn't sound. Would really like this fixed, as it was extremely helpful

@Rb337 👍 I really hope that the next update will activate back the start and end chime. This hand washing functionality is a really great idea, so let’s hope that someone in Apple will read this thread and act.

this is happening to me too. I’m visually impaired so don’t really know what’s going on with it until I get the haptic feedback. I don’t mind it being more discreet but I’m sure that it shouldn’t be too difficult for Apple to give us the choice. Chimes, vibrations, both or off.

I'm fairly flabbergasted that they didnt fix this in the update. It was a bragging point for them when they were first rolling out the newest watch and watchOS. Its not like they weren't notified of it...both here and by people calling in. Between this, and a lack of a fix for the charging issue on the iPhone 12 not being fixed in THAT update, well... Apple's unofficial motto has always been "It just works." Lately, not so much. Im a hardcore Apple fan, but am starting to detect a sense of quality creep culturally in the org. Too many things like this seems to be happening. Is Tim paying attention?

Weird but I’ve gotten a loud chime after briskly washing hands intermittently before the update. I was and continue to be puzzled by this. Really a bummer this is not fixed correctly and disappointed in Apple for not gets this right.

My handwashing chime is still intermittent... first handwashing of the day, I get the chime and maybe once or twice at night... but nothing all day... and I used to like the ‘thumbs up’ emoji.... now it’s all broken

Done. Unfortunately I have the feeling that nobody in Apple is interested. Is it because long sleeve shirts doesn’t exist in Cupertino? Hope it will be back in the next release and not after the pandemic.

Unfortunately Apple is like every other wonderful company now a days. They couldn’t care less! I posted a feedback as soon as 7.1 came out. They don’t care. People keep buying there junk, so they keep making it junk! It’s the new way of life!

So true Phil. As long as your spending blog buck on their devises they don’t give a S—t. I’ve ask apple why the notifications chimes no longer work since the update, and guess what NO reply. Samsung next one thinks. Stay well.

Would be nice to get a clarification from Apple. Hope they can fix it in a new update.

Yeah same for me. I get the end ones, but no initial chime. So I don’t always know it’s started! Only started after updating.

@Tuckerman Moss1, I believe that setting is for hourly chimes. It has nothing to do with the hand-washing function, as far as I can tell.

Good to see Apple fixed it in watchOS 7.2 NOT!

In fact it’s worse! I don’t get the noises at the end either now. A nice silent handwashing 🙄
