Pull down menu widgets blank

Hi, I just took the latest update to 14.1 and my pull down menu changed. I go to settings > control center to add or remove the controls, but these blanks in the middle never fill up. I also compared my control options with my boyfriends and he has more options available. He’s on the iPhone X. Is this happening to anyone else? Any fixes?

I've upgrated to 14.0 but when I hold down the screen the plus sign in the top left wont appear. I'm trying to customize widgets on my home screen, but the plus on the top left will not show up. Here's what I've done: Holding down the screen for an extensive period, still wont show up. Made sure I was up to date. Gotten help from a friend, who still couldn't get it to work. Is the feature not supported on IPad or am I doing something wrong?

Restart the device and check again.
