No Alarm sound

Hi, today on my iphone 12 I had a weird issue in the morning when my alarm was showing on screen but it had no sound. Everything else was working like DND, Ring, Volume was full etc. I woke up and decided to set another alarm manually for 5 minutes later and again there was the same issue. There was no sound, just the notification. The issue was fixed after restart but any idea why this issue occurred in the first place? How can i rely on iphone alarm not making me late for work again in the future?

We certainly understand wanting to ensure your iPhone alarm sound is audible, and we'll be happy to help. Knowing that you were able to test and replicate the no-audio issue is helpful.

Have you updated to iOS 14.2? If not, see if that helps: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If that doesn't help, try removing any cases you have on your device and test it again; how does that work?

As another possibility, try disabling Attention Aware Features as shown here and test again: About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro

How about if you tap Settings > Sound & Haptics and toggle "Change with Buttons?" Does that make a difference?

Also, if you have any connected audio devices that have their own volume controls, disconnect those and test again.
