Apple Pay and turning off double click on iOS 14

My phone recently updated itself to iOS 14 and now whenever I attempt to use a card stored in my wallet, I have to double click the side button. This is the same behavior using my wallet at the store as it is at the bank. Before this update I used to just touch my card, enter my passcode, and I was good to go. Now I have to touch the card, double click the side button, then enter my passcode.

I’ve already turned off the double click setting in wallet config. How to I get my old behavior back? Can you turn off the side button double click requirement for Apple Pay?

Hello RobertGonzalez,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. We understand wanting to turn off the requirement to double press the side button on your iPhone to use Apple Pay, and we'd be happy to provide some guidance.

"On an iPhone with Face ID, you can also use AssistiveTouch or use Switch Control to confirm payments with Face ID instead of double-clicking the top button"

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

So what you're saying is there is no way to just turn it off then? I do not want to set up FaceID. This is a massive nuisance to be honest. Like, I already touched my card, why do I need to confirm with my face or with double tap in order to enter my passcode in order to process a payment? Like, it is easier to just insert my card.

Whatever. This is typical Apple behavior inducing frustration on their users. Thanks for the reply. I wish Apple was more helpful.
