what it mean "Power source is adapter" in macbook pro. Do battery stop providing power when it is charging?

Of course. The more you use your computer on battery power the more often you will need to charge it so the number of cycles will increase more quickly. If you leave the computer plugged in the rate of accumulation of battery cycles will be lower since the batter is not being discharged as quickly or as often.
